But they slightly increase the risk of breast and cervical cancer. The only population group that should have concerns about taking the pill are women at very high risk for cancer, such as those with a BRCA mutation. You should talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of the pill.

She points out that women who have a diet high in soy, as in Eastern cultures, do not have an increased risk of breast cancer.

BisphenolA, or BPA, is a common chemical used in many plastic products and some aluminum cans that mimics estrogen. It is on a list of chemicals known as endocrine disruptors due to its effects on hormones. However, more research is needed to determine the risks.

Inflammation increases the amount of insulin and estrogen in the body, which triggers cell division. The excess fat itself also produces estrogen.
